Gypsum Management & Supply, Inc. expanded to North Carolina with the opening of Colonial Materials, Inc. in May 1984 in Charlotte, NC.  John Bloxsom & Jack O'Brien moved to Charlotte from the Atlanta area to open the new facility, and  John has since moved to Greensboro to open the Pleasant Garden location.

Colonial Materials Inc. has expanded over the past years:

• Pleasant Garden, NC (Greensboro Market) full service drywall & acoustical yard in July 1992.

• Stallings, NC opened in 1996 as a re-load & customer pick-up yard.  The growth in Union County has supported staffing a fleet of trucks at this yard.

• Winston-Salem, NC opened as a full service drywall & acoustical yard in October, 1996.

• Charlotte Acoustical Division opened in February, 2002 as a full service acoustical products supply yard.

• Colonial Materials of Fayetteville, Inc. opened in October 1995 as a full service drywall & acoustical supply yard and recently added a full service yard in Castle Hayne, near Wilmington.

• Mooresville, NC, our newest distribution yard, opened in May of 2003 as a full-service drywall yard located north of Charlotte off Hwy 77 at exit 36.

The additional facilities, more diverse inventory, and more than 200 employees have helped Colonial Materials Inc. meet the growing demands of our customers and the influx of families moving to North Carolina.
